Project area is located in the hinterland in the east shore of Watarase River where cultivated farm village and its own culture and industry are brought up according to the terrain condition of the swamp land. However, the land has been left awasteland by the reclamation of the marshland and the change in the land use according to the
expansion of urban area from 1940's. In this plan, the swamp land is restored and maintains as a comprehensive park of the natural symbiosis as the park use program is settled on as a heart of a regional community, environmental and cultural conservation. Also forming organization of the residents is supported under this program.Moreover, in this park construction work, the preservation of a local culture, creation of a new space value which is united with a natural environment, and an approach to local community formation centered on the park are highly evaluated and hence won the UNESCO Melina Mericuri Prize in 2003.
