Bujumbura, the capital of Burundi has a population of about 400,000, and it is the center of politics and an economic activity. For its increase of the economic activity of the revival term from the civil war, the relief of the traffic congestion in the
central district and restructuring of urban transportation service are required.
This project was enforced as technical assistance of JICA in 2007, consisted of survey of existing circumstance of the urban transport of Bujumbura, regional planning in the future, districts urban transport plan, and bus operation plan.
Moreover, according to the priority of sub projects, the decision of an urgent rehabilitation works on urban transport and road network were taken and its construction works were achieved.
