In Kabul the capital of Afghanistan, the population has been increased rapidly because of the migrants from the civil war and refugees from domestic countryside area and abroad. But the progress of construction and rehabilitation of infrastructre facilities such as roads, water and housing are not sufficient, so urban development has been required to be proposed as a solution of these urban issues, Former urban master plan was created in 1978 in Kabul but it has not been updated since then, it is not able to respond to the current repid urban expansion and development needs. In addition to the necessety of improving the existing city, there is a need to develop a new city in order to solve the current proplems of Kabul. Medium and long term urban planning master plan is desired for that purpose. In this study urban master plan for Kabul metropolitan area was formulated with landuse plans, infrastructure plans, development business plans and other related sector plans.
